friday poem
This week I read some of the Tree House kids' poems called "Where I'm From" and decided to try one of my own :)
Where I'm From
I'm from doors never locked, except when we're on vacation.
I'm from "cricks," not "creeks."
I'm from Bruce Springsteen on the record player Sunday morning.
I'm from cat hair on everything,
From "Family comes first," "What doesn't kill you makes you stronger," and "Wherever you go, there you are."
I'm from Coors Light on the railroad tracks,
From Hamburger Helper, hard work, and country music.
I'm from good people doing the best they can
And loving, unconditionally.

amazed!!!
last night my boyfriend told me i was supportive. i know it's just a simple word but i was all like

super happy spongebob style! no one ever told me i was supportive before. probably because i wasn't. but those days are over!
when i was little my mom told me that a good relationship doesn't depend on how much you like the person your with. it depends on how much you like the person you are when your with them. i love my parents, my friends, and my boyfriend, but more than that, i love the person i am able to be in these relationships. a good daughter?! a loyal friend!? a supportive girlfriend?! the fact that i can even see past my own nose somedays surprises me. but this mushy stuff? get outta town. i don't know how or when i got to a place where i am able to be all of these things, and i know i didn't have much to do with it.
thanks, god. u da man.

amazed
so yesterday i cut myself opening a can of peaches (used to make boyfriend a happy birthday peach pie... which turned out AWESOME) and today, when i went searching for a band-aid to shield my wound from my knitting needles... i found these babies.
that's right. BACON BAND-AIDS. whoever invented these, please let me have your children.
i forget where i got them... probably spencer's. it had to of been at least a few years ago. but man, am i glad i made this purchase. wearing this little piece of meat around my thumb even made me grateful for my peach-can cut. i guess everything really does happen for a reason *looks off dreamily into distance*
in conclusion: buy some bacon band-aids. everyone will think you're cool, and paper cuts won't bring only misery anymore. bacon band-aids for life!!! (or at least until i forget about them again.)
